Transportation
Lemont is serviced by the Metra Heritage Corridor Train offering commuting between Lemont and Chicago by rail. Please refer to Metra Timetables for daily availability. Parking is available at the Lemont train station in several lots. A daily parking fee of $1.00 is payable at the Metra lot.
Lemont enjoys standard PACE bus service plus the Township also participates in the "Dial-A-Ride" program which offers from-your-door special transportation services within the township boundaries.
Both of Chicago's major airports are convenient to Lemont. O'Hare International is 32 miles north and Midway Airport is 18 miles northeast. Private airfields in the area are: Lewis University Field, seven miles west in Joliet and Clow Airport, twenty-one miles northwest in Bolingbrook.
The Village is located at the crossroads of the nation's interstate system.
Interstate I-55 (Stevenson) is five miles to the North. I-355 is the first exit off that expressway to get you to the Northern suburbs. I-294 (Tri-State) is four miles north on I-55. I-80 passes fifteen miles south. The I-355 extension has an interchange planned in Lemont.
Lemont Park District
The Lemont Park District consists of 14 park sites, the 34,000 square foot Centennial Community Center and the Witkoski Recreation Center.
The Recreation Center offers numerous self development programs and recreational activities.
The SRA TRI COUNTY Special Recreation Association is a non-profit special recreation cooperative providing year round recreational and social programs for individuals with disabilities or special needs.
Recreational Areas
Recreational opportunities abound in Lemont, with thousands of acres of adjacent forest preserves and wildlife areas for your use. If you are a golf enthusiast, some of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the country are located in the Heritage Corridor including the internationally recognized Cog Hill course where the PGA has held the Western Open for many years.
There are numerous local parks and a 5.5 mile trail for hiking, running and biking along the historic I & M Canal. Plans are in the works to develop the historic quarries for recreational purposes. To this day, the charm of Lemont continues to survive, a living legacy to be enjoyed by families living here and future families who may come.
Lemont Artist Guild
The Lemont Artists' Guild was established in 1992. The Guild is designed as a gathering place for artists and art enthusiasts, bringing people together to share ideas, spark creativity and encourage interest in the fine, visual and performing arts. The Guild meets on a regular basis. All are welcome.
"Lemont Legends" Cruise Night
For a short time each summer the historic downtown area turns into a stroll down memory lane for many people. Stretching along Main, and Canal streets is a gathering of some of the finest classic autos and hot rods from around the tri-state area.
With an average of 175+ cars on cruise night, the area is hopping with crowds in excess of 1,000. 50's and Motown music is playing in the background while the engines are running. It's truly a walk down memory lane for Lemont's residents and visitors and has become an established regional event in Chicagoland summer fun.

Treat yourself to a different experience – shop and dine in historic downtown Lemont. Discover a world of upscale boutiques, fabulous restaurants mixed with scenic beauty. Placed in a quaint village with over 150 years of history, you'll find numerous establishments there to serve your every need from antiquing to dining.

Churches
Known as the Village of Faith, there are fifteen churches and temples in the immediate Lemont vicinity. Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist and a Hindu Temple are all present.
Driving on Lemont Road south over the river and canals on the flybridge, several of these limestone and brick churches make a picturesque scene for the viewer.
Public Library
The Lemont Public Library is located at 50 East Wend Street in a new 17,000 square foot building. The library houses approximately 60,000 books on a variety of subjects. The library always buys bestsellers and authors popular with Lemont library users.
The Lemont Library has over 3,000 videos on file along with 2,800 compact discs, local and national newspapers, and over 150 magazines. The library also has a great collection of audio books. Internet connection is available for public use.
School District 113
Lemont is part of the Lemont-Brombeck Combined School District 113. This District has an excellent reputation for quality educators and preparing a student for all levels of higher education. Recent scores from the 2005 Illinois District Report on Public Schools show:
- A student to staff ratio of 17.3
- Staff with an average of 13.1 years teaching experience
- Scores higher than State averages in all categories on PSAE Testing (Reading, Math, Science)
- Performance on all State tests higher than State averages
In complement to District 113 there are all several highly regarded private schools in Lemont and the immediate vicinity.
